How it works

With your Bluetooth cell phone and the ETOEngineering.com OfficeMate paired and turned on, simply press your TASH ability switch or use your sip-n-puff switch, or wheelchair ECU port to access the phone to make, receive, and hang up calls.  Although the ETOEngineering.com OfficeMate will work with any Bluetooth cell phone with voice recognition, we highly recommend Bluetooth cell phones with VoiceSignal’s one-step, speaker independent, speech recognition software solution.  VoiceSignal is a free voice recognition software that is pre-installed on specific phone models.  Unfortunately the phone either has VoiceSignal software or it doesn't, it cannot be purchased and installed later except in very rare exceptions such as with the PalmOne Treo.  So you want to make sure that your Bluetooth cell phone has VoiceSignal voice recognition and you can access VSuite by pressing the button on a Bluetooth headset.  You can find out more information and a list of phones that support VSuite at the Nuance website.

Some examples of how ETOEngineering.com OfficeMate works with a VoiceSignal VSuite Bluetooth cell phone are shown below.

  1. Press your TASH ability switch.

  2. The system will wake up and say "Say a command" followed by a beep.

  3. Say a contact's name from your phone's contact list, for example "Call John Smith".

  4. The system will say "Connecting" and dial John Smith's number.

Making a call:  Call <NUMBER>

  1. Press your TASH ability switch.

  2. The system will wake up and say to you "Say a command".

  3. Say a phone number, for example "Call 6175555926".

  4. The system will say to you "Connecting" and dial the number.

Answering an incoming call:

  2. The incoming call is answered.

Hang up a call:

  2. The phone hangs up.

What is the ETOEngineering.com OfficeMate Switch Adapted Bluetooth Headset?

A switch adapted Bluetooth headset with a 1/8" audio mono jack (standard ability switch jack) on 12" wire lead.  It is designed to work with a standard TASH ability switch, sip-n-puff switch, or ECU port so that the user doesn't have to press the tiny button on the Bluetooth headset.  It allows the user to use the same headset with their cell phone and to control their computer with Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking.  The user can switch between the cell phone and computer.
