How it works

Simply press your TASH ability switch or use your sip-n-puff switch or wheelchair ECU port  to access the phone to make, receive, and hang up calls.  Although the Bluetooth speakerphone accessory will work with any Bluetooth cell phone with voice recognition, we highly recommend Bluetooth cell phones with VoiceSignal’s one-step, speaker independent, speech recognition software solution.   VoiceSignal is a free voice recognition software that is pre-installed on specific phone models.  Unfortunately the phone either has VoiceSignal software or it doesn't, it cannot be purchased and installed later except in very rare exceptions such as with the PalmOne Treo.  So you want to make sure that your Bluetooth cell phone has VoiceSignal voice recognition and you can access VSuite by pressing the button on a Bluetooth headset.  You can find out more information and a list of phones that support VSuite at the VoiceSignal website.

What is the Zoommate?

A switch adapted Bluetooth speakerphone accessory with an 1/8" audio mono jack (standard ability switch jack) on 12" wire lead.  It is designed to work with a standard TASH ability switch, sip-n-puff switch or ECU port so that the user doesn't have to press the tiny button on the Bluetooth accessory.  Rather, the user simply presses their ability switch to access the functionality of the speakerphone.

What phones work best with the Zoommate?

Although the Zoommate will work with any Bluetooth® cell phone with voice recognition, we highly recommend Bluetooth® cell phones with VoiceSignal®’s VSuite one-step, speaker independent, speech recognition software solution.  VoiceSignal® is a free voice recognition software that is pre-installed on specific phone models.  You can find out more information and a list of phones that support VSuite at the VoiceSignal® website.

The following phones support Bluetooth® and have VoiceSignal’s VSuite voice recognition software (LG phones have an OEM version of VSuite).  Can't flip the phone open?  Not a problem, ETO Engineering OfficeMate headset works with the cell phone shut or open.  We are in the process of evaluating other voice recognition solutions from various manufacturers such as Nuance Voice Control, Microsoft VoiceCommand, and Fonix VoiceCentral.  Email us if you have questions regarding which phone to purchase.
